To maximize the durability of your Zips and protect your investment, we highly recommend treating them at least 2 to 3 times per year with Granger’s Rubber Boot Care. I’ll try to keep this short…..I ordered my boots on Aug 22 and they were expected to deliver on the 25th. When the 26th rolled around Fedex had clearly misplaced my package so I contacted Jack via Emial. He immediately called me to let me know he would be contacting Fedex and would get back to me soon. Jack emailed me within 30 minutes of the phone call and let me know that he had opened an investigation with Fedex into where my package was. Jack stayed in constant contact with me while we sorted through the shipping issue. Fast forward to Sept 2, after constant contact from Jack I received my boots on Sept 2nd. I’ve only had them for 4 days now but I’ve spent the last 3 in the woods preparing for deer season. I can’t speak to durability yet but they are hands down the most comfortable rubber slip ons I’ve ever worn. These things are clearly of superior construction so I have no doubt that the durability wont be an issue at all. If you’re on the fence like I was, “pull the trigger”, you WILL NOT regret it and rest assured that Jack WILL NOT sleep until you get your boots!

Before ordering, I had questions about the sizing so I contacted customer service and immediately had my questions answered. My size of street shoe is normally US 9 (EU 42), but one of my feet is slightly larger. I had ordered the EU43, just to be safe. Within minutes of placing the order, I received a detailed email from Jack Butler with an owners manual and some further directions on the order. This prompted me to ask the question about size 42 vs 43. Jack advised me to try the EU42, and they fit perfectly. I am impressed with the boot quality and flexibility of the natural rubber. Well, after 4 years my Gumbleaf Royal Zips finally sprung a leak (and not the water over the top of the boot kind of leak of which there have been plenty). To say that I am very happy with them is an understatement, especially since they’re from 2017 and it is 2021. I have worn out other rubber boots in less than a year between grouse and woodcock hunting, early season archery hunts, stream fishing and trapping. I’m so very happy with these boots. It looks like where the green rubber meets the brown rubber of the cushion part of the sole near the ball of my foot is separated and that is where water is working its way in. I contacted Jack and he had recommendations for trying to fix the leak. Not many places will give you that kind of customer service four years after your purchase, most will just say buy a new boot. If you want rubber boots that will hold up to rough treatment from a company that will treat you right these are the boots for you!

My husband bought me these boots because I do a lot of training with our bird dog and I was always complaining about my feet hurting after a long day of training in my wellies. Best upland boots you can buy. Went to take pictures for Pineridge Grouse Camp in northern MN last fall. Forget my cheap rubber boots back home. Thankfully one of the guides was a rep for Gumleaf and had a selection of sizes at the lodge. Excellent quality and extremely comfortable. Boots you can walk in all day. The zipper is perfect for putting on and taking off. Been on lots of hunts since then and can say these boots are worth the money. Should last for years. Very good craftsmanship. Top shelf.

After hearing about these boots for the last few years on the Hunting Dog Podcast and the demise of my previous pair of hunting boots I decided to give Gumleaf a try. Jack was awesome to work with and he had the boots on my doorstep in no time. I’ve been hitting the woods fairly hard the last few weekends and I love these things. So comfortable! My feet never get sore, I love the vibram soles and the traction they provide. My feet never seem to over heat and I can wear them all day. The rubber is tough and they’ve already taken a bit of abuse trekking through the woods chasing grouse and woodcock. No doubt they’ll be my go to for pheasant season too.

They are extremely durable and I put them through some heavy footwork in all kinds of terrain. I have been debating whether or not to buy a pair of Gumleaf boots for the last several months, having had need for a new pair of quality rubber boots since my LaCrosse’s gave out over a year ago. Having received and worn the royal zips for just over three weeks now I can say that they are one of the best pair of rubber boots I have owned. They are very comfortable and the high percentage of natural rubber gives the boots much more flexibility, something other boot brands (such as LaCrosse) are lacking.

I’ve had these boots for two weeks, and I’ve worn them hiking and hunting. They are very comfortable and do not need to be broken in. In fact, they feel like sneakers. I want to express my pleasure with my first day afield in my new Gumleaf Royal Zips at our syndicate continental shoot!
A warm night had caused our snow to come off leaving a soupy mess at nearly every peg. My boots were comfortable as slippers to wear, well insulated and warm and of course dry. I’d normally change in to leather upland boots for the afternoon rough hunt but was so content in my Royal Zips there was no need. Three more miles of walking proved they could be an all-day companion. I enjoyed sharing my experience with the other guns and recommend them highly to all.

Great product. Some rubber boots pull my socks off and/or cause chafing on my calf and heel. These boots do not. The narrow toe box fits in my horse stirrups. Lateral ankle support is minimal. Sole is flexible, not rigid. Sole provides good traction on all surfaces. Boot fit is snug, not sloppy and allows for all day wear.

I got these Royal zips back in July of 2017 and they are awesome- easy to get on and off, feet are always dry, i am an upland bird hunter and I hunt a lot and these zips have been to a lot of different places- SD, the UP, NC, Texas so lots of different climates and terrain also I guide on weekends at Colebrook Ranch in Ohio and on a typical day i will put on about 10 miles and my feet are always dry and comfy. If I ever wear out my current zips I will buy another pair asap. I have not laced up a leather boot to hunt in since I got these.

I’ve spent an adult
lifetime hunting grouse and woodcock. Recently I’ve had a challenge finding a boot that would work with an ankle orthotic. The size of the brace required a boot with a zipper that would accommodate the brace and Inserting my foot into the boot. Not knowing whether or not the Royal Zip would fit the bill I contacted Jack and relayed my problem. Without hesitation he said I’ll send you a pair of the Royal Zip boots and you try them and if they don’t work you can return them at no charge including the shipping. Unfortunately they wouldn’t work and I had to return them but I wanted to comment on the unparalleled service. Jack went “above and beyond” and the quality of the boot was equal to the service. I wish it would have worked out. I would recommend the boots for the Upper Great Lakes grouse woods without hesitation.

I just got back from my first grouse hunt at Pineridge Grouse Camp near Remer, Minnesota. In doing my research before going, I kept hearing about Gum Leaf boots from the Project Upland and Gun Dog podcasts. In fact, Ron Boehme told me over the phone I needed knee high rubber boots for grouse hunting in Minnesota in mid-October and that Gum Leaf boots were the best. Still being a little uncertain if I needed to spend that kind money, I called the owner, Jack Butler, who spent quite a bit of time over the phone to tell me about the boots. I then pulled the trigger on the purchase and took my new Royal Zips up to Minnesota to try to get into some grouse. Almost immediately, I knew I had made the correct decision. Not only were the boots true to size and a perfect fit out of the box, they were almost a requirement for that type of grouse hunting. I had no idea how difficult walking the covers was going to be and how wet they were in places, especially the places the grouse and woodcock liked to be. People can tell you, but it is something you need to experience first-hand. I am glad I listened and bought the boots. My new Royal Zips now have just the right amount of skuffs, and I suspect they will look just like that and last me for years because the quality is obvious. And if for some reason they don’t, I know I can always call Jack.

Bar none the best rubber boots I have ever owned. Upon first putting these on they do have a fit unlike other boots- the fit is that of running shoes. Quality is unsurpassed.
